Until February 8, a collection of images from the series This World and Others Like It by photographer Drew Nikonowicz will be on display at the Aperture Gallery in NYC.
Nikonowicz was recently the winner of the 2015 Aperture Portfolio Prize as well as the first place winner of the 2015 Lenscratch Student Prize. The series explores landscapes and objects that question reality in the digital age. Aperture explains on their website, “Through dark-hued landscapes and high-contrast portraits of rocks and shiny minerals, Nikonowicz not only calls into question the physical properties and realness of the earth’s building blocks, but also the way in which a distrust of images has become inherent to our experience of the world around us.
