Back in 2010, Seattle-based design studio, Lead Pencil Studio, installed a billboard on the US-Canada border in Washington “signifying no advertisement, no traditional information and no navigational direction.” Entitled ‘Non-Sign II,’ the installation is constructed from welded stainless steel rod and “invites contemplation on navigational direction and the prevelance of advertising while on the road.”
